Mental health signs WEB

The City is providing employees with a unique opportunity to increase mental health awareness starting Friday, February 2. This training teaches how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health issues and substance use that we may encounter at work. Specifically, this training covers:

  • Noticing signs and symptoms of substance abuse and mental health challenges
  • Navigating conversations about mental health or substance use concerns
  • Learning recovery is possible and how to support it
  • Tackling mental health stigma in the workplace
  • Identifying safety and privacy principles
  • Building resilience and strategies to alleviate burnout
  • Reinforcing relevant employee resources groups, benefits and Human Resources initiatives

Need more reasons to attend?

  • Approximately 10.8 million full-time workers have a substance abuse disorder (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration)
  • As many as 200 million workdays are lost each year due to mental health challenges (Harvard Business Review)
  • Less than 10% of employees feel their workplace is free of stigmas about mental health (McKinesy Center for Societal Benefit)
