The City-County Communications & Marketing Association (3CMA) announced the 2023 winners of its national Savvy Awards. This national competition has drawn entries from the best in government communications for over 30 years. The City of Plano received these Savvy Awards during a ceremony in Orlando on September 7:
Two 1st Place Savvy awards:
• LifePath series (Video-Public Service Announcement category)
Judges’ comments:
“The stories told and the way that they are shot is beautiful and amazing. This is a great way to impact and tell the stories of this community's relationship with suicide victims and their families.”
“This was so well done! I was so engaged that I watched every single video! The stories are very personal and relatable.”
• Community Day at the Fire Training Center (Special Events/One-Time Event category)
Judges’ comments:
“This event's theme and consistency, and creative use of video, really caught our attention. Turning an opening of a facility into a true community open house is going above and beyond and setting the bar high. The use of drone shots to show the scope of the new training center and the effective editing and music enhanced the promotion value!”
“I felt that the team was able to take what easily could have been a very unceremonious opening of a new facility and "turn up the heat" to make it an exciting community-oriented event that informed the community about how wisely the city is using funds to help keep them safe.”
3rd Place Savvy award:
• Budget Education Communications Strategy
3CMA received more than 875 entries in 38 categories this year and used professional communicators from across the United States as judges. There were 83 first-place Savvy Awards, 85 second-place Silver Circle Awards and 82 third-place Awards of Excellence presented at the annual conference.
These awards salute skilled and effective city, county, agency or district professionals who have creatively planned and carried out successful innovations in communications and marketing.
