Active Shooter Training sign

Plano Police, Public Safety Communications and Plano Fire-Rescue have an informative Active Shooter Awareness presentation. It helps you to know what your options are in the event of an active shooter situation. Remember “Run, Hide, Fight?”

The 2-hour training meeting was recorded and made available for viewing 24/7. For convenience, the forum may also be watched in shorter video segments focusing on specific topics. Find these on Plano’s YouTube Channel:

Active Shooter Awareness: Part 1, Overview of Active Threat Science
Active Shooter Awareness: Part 2, The Call to 9-1-1
Active Shooter Awareness: Part 3, Strategies to Survive
Active Shooter Awareness: Part 4, Bleeding Control
Active Shooter Awareness: Part 5, Questions and Answers

In an extended version of the Plano Police Safety Minute podcast, PPD Officer Chris Bianez explains that one of the best actions to surviving an active shooter incident is getting law enforcement on the scene. Watch this 12-minute message.

Other helpful active shooter training videos are posted in English and Spanish on under the “Employee Resources” tab. Printable “Run, Hide, Fight” protocols are also on the webpage.

Departments can schedule a walk-through of the work area with a PPD rep to discuss concerns about what to do in the event of an active shooter situation. Together, you can devise the best plan of action for your staff and workspace. Email Donita Brown for details.
