Municipal Center Visitor Protocol Reminder

ID Bldg Entry protocols Jan2022

It is important to be mindful and adhere to our current visitor protocols in helping to maintain a secure environment for Team Plano.

First Floor and Second Floor Visitors can go directly to the intended department suite and counter. These floors are accessible to the public but require badge-access at either the suite door or within the suite. Departments on these floors need to be available for walk-ins to their suite and counters for customer service.

Lower Level and Third Floor Visitors must be escorted by an employee from the intended department to their destination. These floors are badge-access only, so unescorted visitors are not allowed on these floors. Departments on these floors must provide an escort for visitors. Communicate to visitors in advance what to expect when arriving to the building and have staff available to escort visitors from the main lobby.

If a visitor says “Hold the elevator, please!,” or you encounter a visitor following you onto the elevator, respectfully ask what floor/department they are visiting. If the department is on the lower level or third floor, direct them to the main lobby to call that department. Escort them to the wall phone adjacent to the elevator and the nearby seating area where they can wait on the first floor.

City I.D. badges are required to ride the elevator to the third floor and lower level, and to access the stairwells – including the restrooms, after hours. Please remember to wear your employee badge at all times while at work, no matter which City facility you work in. Contact Human Resources immediately if a replacement badge is needed.

Staff-only entrances require badge-access. The four public entrances are identified by number and location as follows:Badge access door

  • Entrance 1: entry with the revolving door that leads to the main lobby and elevators
  • Entrance 2: entry with two sets of double doors across from Building Inspections
  • Entrance 3: entry from K Avenue on the west side, adjacent to Council Chambers
  • Entrance 4: entry from the north side (with parking lot), adjacent to Council Chambers
