Planning Department receives 2 Major Awards for Excellence

2022 Planning TX APA Awards 2

Mayor John B. Muns delivered two special honors to the Planning department at the November 14 City Council meeting. Both awards were presented by the Texas Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA).

The first accolade was a Gold Level Award for the Haggard Park Heritage District Design Standards. “Plano is one of the most dynamic cities in the state with folks coming from everywhere to live and retire. You earned this award for the ways you have consistently addressed the needs of a growing population,” said Staron Faucher, director of the North Central Texas Chapter of the APA. This award recognizes a historically-significant planning project, initiative or endeavor that may be used or accessed by the public.2022 Planning TX APA Awards

The second honor was a Planning Excellence Award. The state chapter recognizes cities that tirelessly tackle the many planning issues residents face with this award. Our planners excel in their jobs year after year.

Planning Director Christina Day and staff were joined at the Council presentation by representatives from the Texas Historical Commission, Plano’s Heritage Commission, Planning & Zoning Commission and the Haggard Park Committee.
