According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), taking the influenza vaccination can:
Get a flu shot BEFORE the virus begins to spread throughout the City and the country. It takes about two weeks after vaccination for antibodies that protect against the flu to develop in the body. It is recommended people get a shot before the end of October, but receiving it later can still be beneficial. The CDC has a list of groups recommended for vaccination for 2022-23; as well as info for high-risk individuals.
Flu vaccines protect against the three or four viruses research suggests will be most common each season. Check the CDC’s frequently asked questions for more details.
