BRAVO to High Point Tennis Center on Prestigious National Award

Parks & Recreation announced happy news that the 2022 Outstanding Facility Award goes to High Point Tennis Center. The United States Tennis Association (USTA) recognizes High Point Tennis Center as an exemplary facility committed to the development and growth of tennis in the City.

A number of uncommon amenities and programs, and a top-notch staff contributed to Plano receiving this honor. Another plus for us is the 43-year-old facility recently underwent a major $5.8-million-dollar renovation (2021) that included:High Point Center social area

  • 8,000 square-foot, two story building
  • Pro shop 
  • Self-serve concession and vending area
  • 2,000 square feet of covered viewing decks
  • Social/meeting space with a catering bar
  • 21 lighted outdoor courts
  • 8 combo pickleball/tennis courts

Players can now shop for beginner to high-end racquets, apparel, footwear and accessories on site. The newHigh Point Center courts sports facility also features:

  • Tennis classes for every level
  • Youth programs and camps
  • League events

Director of Tennis Ken Sumrow manages an experienced group of tennis and pickleball coaches. These accomplished athletes provide over 112,000 sessions of play each year – lessons, programs, workouts, plus league, team and open play.

The USTA award will be presented to Parks & Recreation staff at the Western & Southern Open on Tuesday, August 16.
