Plano’s Communications and Media teams took home two awards from the Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers (TAMIO) conference on June 9.
1st Place in the Most Creative with the Least Dollars category for the video series Stoler on the Street. Directory of Media Relations Steve Stoler writes and shoots this “Did you know” series. Digital Media Specialist Al Carnley does the editing. The total investment in this series, other than everyone’s time, was the cost of the selfie stick Steve uses. This series is extremely popular with our residents.
2nd Place in the Internal Communications category for the Communications and Community Outreach (CCO) team’s monthly departmental report. The report quantifies the art and science of the communications team’s work and shares specifics on how communications impacts the organization’s priority goals.
“I’m super proud (as always) of the team. Abba, Al, Autumn, Evan, John, Jonathan, Jordan, Melissa, Nadia, Phyllis, Steve A and Wendy, along with our colleague Steve Stoler,” said CCO Director Shannah Hayley. She added, “A host of contractors work hard to deliver on our mission to inform, educate and engage.”
In addition to winning awards, CCO Marketing Specialist Abigail “Abba” Yaney was invited to explain our Instagram Reels strategy. She also shared tips for success with government communicators at the annual TAMIO conference. “Plano loves sharing with our peers what we’ve learned in our communication efforts,” said Hayley.
