Plano Public Library has earned the 2022 Achievement of Library Excellence Award from the Texas Municipal Library Directors Association. This is the 17th consecutive year Plano has gotten this award.
These libraries exhibit distinction by providing services to underserved and special populations, in addition to:
- Enhancing general library services
- Marketing programs and events in innovative ways
- Promoting cultural, topical and educational programming
- Providing literacy support
- Offering summer reading clubs
- Pursuing collaborative efforts and workforce development
- Providing comprehensive staff training
Of the 552 public libraries in Texas, only 59 received this award in 2022. The Texas Municipal Library Directors Association is affiliated with the Texas Municipal League (TML), a 1,100-member group of cities.
The award was officially presented to Plano Public Library Director Libby Holtmann and staff during a City Council meeting on April 11.
