The installation of new computers and laptops for the citywide Computer Refresh Project begins in June – ARE YOU READY? Everyone gets a new device during this event, but not everyone at once. This huge undertaking will be handled by departments and facilities.
This effort replaces our aging desktop technology and:
- Improves security while reducing cyber risks
- Modernizes technology and increases productivity
- Provides easier management of various hardware and software
- Offers quicker problem resolution and so much more
In June, the first departments will receive new computers and laptops. Everyone is asked to CLEAN. MOVE. SAVE. desktop data files in preparation of getting the new machines. Remove all personal files from all drives. Move and save all necessary work files to the L drive.
You will NOT be able to retrieve any files from your current machines once they are removed and replaced with the new computers and laptops.

In the coming weeks, Technology Services will release a “deployment schedule” indicating when YOU are slated to get your new computer.
By December 2022, all machines will be installed. Every effort is being made to make this as seamless a process as possible. The overall success of this major task depends largely on each Team Plano member doing their part. Start now – CLEAN a little each day.
