Resist Springtime Overwatering of Lawns

Water sprinklers in yard with flowers

More sunshine, longer and warmer days signal green things to bud and grow, but watch your water usage. Beginning Friday, April 1, you are encouraged to water lawns and landscapes only two times a week if needed through October 31

The Spring/Summer Watering Guidelines are spelled out in detail on the City’s Watering Guidelines and Management webpage. Avoid watering between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. and when rain is expected.

Use the last digit of your home address to follow this schedule:

  • Even digit (including zero and homeowners associations): Monday and Thursday
  • Odd digit: Tuesday and Friday

To keep from overwatering, sign up for a friendly reminder at WaterMyYard.org. If you have questions about foundation watering, new landscape variances or something else water-related, find answers on the plano.gov/water
