There were a number of major items approved during the November 8 City Council Meeting. Some of the decisions related to:
Ambulances Plano Fire-Rescue is buying six new Braun Ford F-550 Ambulances for $1.8 million to replace aging equipment. The purchase reduces the risk of breakdowns during the transport of patients and reduces the cost of maintenance while preserving resale values.
Police TahoesThirty new Chevrolet Tahoe Police Pursuit Vehicles are joining the City fleet. When the manufacturer announced an October 31 order deadline for the 2022 model, the order had to be placed promptly. Twenty-six were scheduled replacements for older equipment that had reached age, usage, maintenance and resale value limits. The new units will be used for patrol, traffic, neighborhoods and crime prevention. The remaining four units were ordered as future replacements for unscheduled replacement needs.
Emergency Spring Creek Parkway Bridge RepairsApproximately $313,000 will address an emergency bridge repair on Spring Creek Parkway at White Rock Creek. Extensive erosion caused by a water line failure threatens the safety of this bridge. The westbound lane of traffic above the erosion is currently closed to create a safety barrier until the repairs can be made.
This project removes and replaces concrete street paving, concrete channel riprap and structural elements of the bridge, and repairs the 12-inch water line that failed.
The next City Council meeting is Monday, November 22 at 7 p.m. To participate via Zoom, register by 4 p.m. on November 22 to receive a Zoom link. Access the meeting on a video capable device and make yourself visible during the comments.
