Fair…equitable….accessible…words that establish the foundation for various employment laws governing actions, behaviors and decisions made in the workplace. These laws are in place to educate employees on how they should be treated in the workplace and to guide employers through the process of making defensible employment decisions. Providing equal opportunities for all employees translates to a work environment that is physically and emotionally safe for everyone. Policies, practices and structures should reinforce the employer’s commitment a work environment that is free from harassment, discrimination, bullying and retaliation of any kind.
Participants in this class will explore:
Why it is important to protect employees’ civil rights
The impact of employment laws on employees, employers and the work environment
How to recognize and address actions, behaviors and decisions that do not comply with laws that are in place to protect employees
The challenge of equity
