Tweeting for Team Plano

How did you search for the job you have now? Did you hear about it from a friend, use the newspaper, the City of Plano website or perhaps you used social media? Wait. Social media!

Believe it or not, social media (i.e. Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter) is being used for more than just posting pictures of our kids, pets and vacations. According to research done by iCIMS, a talent acquisition software service vendor, “57 percent of job seekers said they used social media at least once a month to learn more about potential employers.”

With over half of job seekers using online platforms to look for a job, social media recruiting is a necessity for finding future Team Plano members. So earlier this year, Human Resources partnered with the Communications and Community Outreach department (specifically, the Social Media team) to find ways to reach that “57 percent of job seekers” more effectively. As a result, the open active jobs in PeopleSoft now show up as posts on the City’s social media pages.

We need your help! Since social media is at its best when we share positive stories and information with friends, you can now share or re-tweet jobs as they appear in the City’s social media feeds. Here’s how:

It may seem simple (and it is), but the impact of our posts reaching job candidates where they are searching grows by leaps and bounds the more information is shared.
