The 21st Municipal Center lobby display is a tribute to pets and the humans who love them. The design was created by Debbie New of Animal Services. The title of the showcase is “Animal Shelter Appreciation Week, November 4-10.” Debbie explains:
“National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week is a time to recognize animal shelters and the dedicated people who work to protect animals. Facilities like ours are a vital resource for communities. A shelter is a safe haven for animals, and a great place to adopt a new family pet."

Debbie added, "There are approximately 3,500 animal shelters across the United States serving an estimated six to eight million homeless animals. While 63 percent of American households have pets, fewer than 20 percent of those animals were adopted from shelters. National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week is the perfect time for you, your family and our community to become acquainted with the shelter and to help homeless pets.”
The Municipal Center lobby display case is home to ever-changing images of: Plano’s rich history, culture and vibrant samples of City programs, events and services.
