Say hello to Plano’s very first Strategic Solutions Manager. He joins the Team Plano family after spending the last 15 years working for the City of Garland. Learn more about Craig in his own words:
Craig Alan Barnes – Garland, Texas
Job title/date hired?
HR Strategic Solutions Manager (too long for the back of a jersey) – July 5, 2017
Abilene Christian University – B.A. Communications
What are your job responsibilities, in general?
In a nutshell, I am responsible for leading organizational initiatives that are focused on improving the operational effectiveness of Human Resources programs that impact OUR organization and OUR customers (e.g. Acquisition of new Team Plano members, Alignment of people and processes/systems, Development and Retention of current Team Plano members).
Describe your favorite thing about your job.
I love working with people and helping them realize they are valued members our OUR Team Plano. I also love utilizing technology to figure out ways to streamline existing processes to help others be able to focus on what they LOVE to do in their career here rather than have a burdensome process be a roadblock to their passion.
Describe your ultimate vacation?
Waist deep in Arkansas’ White River fishing for trout with my family.
What’s the weirdest food you’ve ever eaten?
The HR employee in me is cautious when saying this but...Rocky Mountain Oysters. They were good by the way.
If you won a million dollars what would you do with it?
What would be the title of your autobiography? "Well…Anyway…Exactly or It’s All Good"
What’s your favorite sport/team?
Baseball and the TEXAS RANGERS! Of course, I am a Cowboys fan as well.
If you could have any superpower, which would you choose and why? The ability to sleep late on the weekends or vacation. I wake up around 5 or so, no matter what. However, it is nice when the house is quiet and I can enjoy my cups of coffee (yes, cups…I love coffee).
Finish this statement: “If I weren’t a HR strategic solutions manager, I would be a strategic solutions manager of HR instead.” I really love working with people and technology, so this is a dream job for me! However, I do love to fish – but am no Jimmy Houston (that reference is probably lost on some).
Craig hit the ground running and is excited about joining Team Plano!
