The new rules go into effect this weekend. Take a moment to review the list of dos and don’ts for work attire. The City of Plano implements a new Dress Code Policy for all employees, unless a uniform is required. Details about the new policy are being communicated to employees throughout June. Director of Human Resources Shanté Akafia notes, “The Executive Team took great care in crafting a policy that provides an opportunity for employees to represent their personal style in the workplace while also maintaining a professional appearance to our external and internal customers. We encourage employees to contact their director or a member of the Human Resources Department with any questions about the revised policy.”
The new policy is more encompassing regarding matters of professional appearance in the workplace. The new Dress Code Brochure features color examples of appropriate and inappropriate attire in the workplace Guidelines on the following topics (not addressed in the previous dress code) are also included in the brochure:
The new policy provides guidelines for dress and appearance and is not meant to address all situations. This policy serves as a foundation for the City, allowing department directors to enact more stringent requirements in accordance to the nature of the work environment and/or the nature of work performed.
