Plano Parks & Recreation department is bringing its classes and activities to your home—call it our virtual recreation center! At Play in Plano Online, residents can access a variety of fun resources like kid’s activities, family game night ideas, nature/wildlife resources, at-home workouts, dance classes and more.
“This is a challenging time for everyone, but we are still here to serve Plano residents,” said Susie Hergenrader, recreation services manager.
Facebook followers enjoy videos for the whole family each morning at 10. From Monday Motivation workouts to Wednesday Walks (nature education), each day encourages people to engage in healthy activities individually or as a family.
Get holiday-themed activities to try at home, like easy Easter Nest Rice Krispy Treats recipes and Easter egg coloring pages. Color the eggs and display them from your home (windows, mailboxes, etc.) for neighbors to “no-touch hunt” during their walk or drive.
Thoughtful Thursday video diaries feature Parks & Recreation staff offering inspirational stories, favorite passages, songs and mindfulness tips. Residents are encouraged to share their messages with us through the online form.
Susie added, “Our recreation community is like family—we miss each other! However, we’re also thankful for the power of technology, which allows our community to stay engaged even from a distance. Our overarching goal is to bring people together with a common cause—to live happy, healthy lives.”
