Like so many City employees, Mei Lin’s interests and professional experiences are varied. In addition to the many hats she wears, this Taiwan-native is the newly elected president of the Project Management Institute Dallas Chapter (PMI).
In the short time Mei has worked for the City of Plano (December 2017), those who’ve gotten to know her would probably say “engaging” if asked to describe her. It’s that quality and more, along with her passion in supporting project management professionals that contributed to Mei winning the top job for the 4,600-member organization.
As a project manager, primarily in the area of strategic technology, Mei interacts closely with several departments simultaneously. One of the large-scale jobs she oversees is the citywide Computer Refresh Project – which is successfully nearing an end.
The “…and more” for Mei includes:
Mei is also a recently published author of “My Mommy is a Project Manager.” Writing the book was inspired by her desire to help her 2-year-old son Blake Andrews understand what she does at work. The bigger picture for her means “helping children connect the important roles of motherhood and female professional.”
Juggling marriage to Jason, parenting, a career and new PMI duties, Mei was just chosen to participate in the Leadership Institute Master Class, a year-long program to build future leaders. Her favorite quote is from Walt Disney, “All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.”
Congratulate Mei Lin on the start of her 2-year term as PMI Dallas Chapter president.
