CM Mark Israelson Unveils Recommended 2019-20 City Budget

Budget

City Manager Mark Israelson recently presented the 2019-20 Recommended Budget and Community Investment Program (CIP) to City Council. See these documents online and at any of the five Plano Public Library locations.

A summary of significant budget figures:

  • Proposed City Operating Budget is $665.6 Million
  • Proposed CIP Budget is $257.8 Million
  • Effective tax rate of 44.85 cents per $100 of assessed property valuation (must be certified)

The budget approval process calendar is as follows:

Thursday, Aug. 1 – City Council Budget Work Session on Grant Funding
Thursday, Aug. 8 – Plano Town Hall on the Budget & CIP
Monday, Aug. 12 – Presentation of Proposed CIP to Council
               Public Hearing on Operating Budget and Community Investment Program
               Approval of Appraisal Roll and Determine Proposed Tax Rate for Notice
Saturday, Aug. 17 – City Council Work Session on the Budget
Monday, Aug. 26 (TBD) – 1st Public Hearing on the Tax Rate
Wednesday, Sept. 4 (TBD) – 2nd Public Hearing on the Tax Rate
Monday, Sept. 9 – Adoption of the Operating Budget and CIP and Set the Tax Rate
Tuesday, Oct. 1 – New Fiscal Year Begins under Newly Adopted Budget
