Attorney Victor Flores Receives TCAA Susan Rocha Award

Assistant City Attorney Victor A. Flores is having an outstanding summer for more than one reason. First, he was sworn-in as the 2019-2020 Texas Young Lawyers Association (TYLA) president at the State Bar of Texas annual meeting in Austin. It’s a tremendous honor to be selected to serve this organization comprised of over 27,000 members. TYLA, commonly known as the “public serve arm” of the State Bar of Texas, provides info and assistance to the underserved in our communities – the homeless, the elderly and veterans. In addition, it works to assist all Texas lawyers develop and maintain their legal practices.

Victor Flores staircaseMost recently Victor received the Texas City Attorneys Association (TCAA) Susan Rocha Award for Outstanding Public Service by an Assistant City Attorney. He was recognized for his distinguished career achievements in the field of municipal law. TCAA grants one award each year in honor of Rocha who worked tirelessly to support the legal needs of smaller Texas cities.

Victor is a former member of the United States Marine Corps who joined Team Plano in June 2018. He’s a graduate of the Western Michigan University Cooley Law School. This McAllen, Texas, native is married with two children. He says, “I’m honored and humbled. Being part of Team Plano continues to be such an incredible experience.”

Bit-of-history: The Texas Legislature passed the State Bar Act in 1939 mandating that all attorneys licensed to practice law in Texas belong to the State Bar of Texas.
