Our beautiful green spaces and irresistible leisure programs have a tremendous impact on people’s lives. Acknowledging July as National Park and Recreation Month during the June 24 City Council meeting is one way Plano recognizes the immeasurable benefits of having a great Parks and Recreation Department.
Director Robin Reeves and several senior staff members (Susie Hergenrader, recreation services manager; Doug Green, parks support superintendent and Renee Jordan, park planning manager) accepted the city council proclamation and shared details of the department’s success:

Mayor Harry LaRosiliere was sure to mention our nationally accredited Parks and Recreation department is “….a key contributor to Plano’s reputation as a City of Excellence.” The department celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2018.
