On our Journey to SERVE, defining what the values mean, the question being asked is “Why are you a member of Team Plano?” Becoming a member of a team, community or group is something that we spend time on – in research and in thought. We take membership seriously because it’s not a spectator sport. Membership requires investing ourselves.
If we are to give of ourselves to an organization or group, we want to make sure that what we are involved in aligns with who we are and what we are about. Over recent months, we’ve explored a couple of the City’s values (Stewardship.Engage.Respectful.Visionary.Excellence). However, let’s not become numb to the main message:
“Choosing to be Team Plano members, we’ve decided to share our talents with the community and each other.”
Sports teams all have these things in common: ups and downs, wins and losses. However, if they work together towards championship seasons, great things are accomplished. Good teams come together each day to succeed at core values and goals.
Noted industrialist and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie said, "Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results." This is exactly what Team Plano looks like – people working together to represent fundamental values. SERVE values aren’t centered around self, but rather the interests of those we connect with daily.

Thank you all for being who you are and being a valued member of OUR team. Now…PLAY BALL!
