The holiday season just got brighter for the City’s library due to a sizable donation from a long-time sponsor. The Friends of the Plano Public Library happily presented a $115,000 contribution to the Plano Public Library during the December 10 City Council meeting. Organization president and former council member Scott Johnson delivered the check to Library Director Libby Holtmann and Mayor Harry LaRosiliere.
“Our job is to help Plano Libraries provide services and features for the public that aren’t included in the normal budget,” said Johnson. The Friends is a non-profit group comprised of volunteers who’ve been supporting the City library since 1965.
Donations from this organization fund a number of classes and several outreach projects, which include purchasing the #morethanbooks mobile van this summer. Johnson also thanked the community for gifting money, time and books to the Friends’ cause.
