Plano has always paid tribute to the men and women of our military and was recently named a “Purple Heart City” for our efforts. When The Military Order of the Purple Heart presented the honor during a recent City Council meeting, a number of local veterans joined Texas State Commander Jon Lunkwicz to deliver the award.
Each year Plano recognizes Team Plano vets and their family members for service to the country with a photo slideshow. This year, members of the executive team surprised our employee-veterans with a “heroes” breakfast at the Oak Point Park Nature & Retreat Center…just another way to say thank you. See the video and photos from the event.
Plano East Rotary’s, a Field of Honor, is another reason Plano was named a “Purple Heart City.” This is the second year the group set up 1,000 American flags at Oak Point Park featuring the names of Plano veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice.
