Plano Named 5th Best City to Own and Drive a Car

The latest WalletHub findings reveal Plano ranks favorably among car owners on several important factors. WalletHub examined 100 of the largest U.S. cities and Plano sped past the pack to take the #5 spot. The nationwide survey took 29 key criteria into consideration. Here’s how Plano rated in some of those areas:

  • Cost of ownership and maintenance rank: 20 (of 100 cities)
  • Traffic and infrastructure rank: 30 (of 100 cities)
  • Safety rank: 8 (of 100 cities)
  • Access to vehicles and maintenance rank: 48 (of 100 cities)

Driving in and around the City is a pleasure – for the most part. The online article also included several interesting AAA facts about national averages:

  • $8,469 – average yearly cost of owning and operating a new vehicle ($706/mo.)
  • 10,900 – average miles Americans drive per year
  • 290 – average number of hours spent driving per year (equivalent to seven 40-hour work weeks)

The four cities rounding out WalleHub’s top five Best Cities to Own and Drive a Car are Raleigh (NC), Corpus Christi (TX), Orlando (FL) and Greensboro (NC).
