Mandatory Training: Are You in Compliance?

Mandatory training

Have you completed the City’s employee compliance course for 2018? As the end of the year rapidly closes in on us, so does the deadline to take our mandatory compliance course – Harassment Prevention for Employees: State and Local Government Edition. All employees are required to successfully complete this Skillsoft online course by December 31, 2018.

Why do we have compliance courses?

No matter what our job is, we all interact with people internally and externally. This interaction is at the very core of what Team Plano does every day. How well members of the Team perform these interactions is fundamental to how successfully we SERVE each other and our residents.

With reports of sexual misconduct and other forms of harassment surfacing on the news over the past year, City Manager Bruce Glasscock wants to make sure we are ALL operating on our best behavior. Prevention is the best tool for creating a respectful work environment and he is committed to helping everyone understand what constitutes harassment and how to avoid sensitive incidents from occurring.

Therefore the city manager requires that EVERY member of Team Plano take three Skillsoft compliance courses on a 3-year cycle:

  • Harassment Prevention for Employees (takes roughly 30 minutes to complete) – 2018
  • Business Ethics
  • Diversity on the Job: Diversity and You

At the beginning of each year, the new compliance course requirement is announced via the Team Plano website and newsletter. See this Human Resources flyer for more course details and instructions for logging in to Skillsoft.
