What began in Oregon as merely an odd pairing of ideas in 2016, has made its way to Plano – goat yoga! One of the newest Plano Recreation activities being presented for individuals from 14 to 100 years old. The Parks and Recreation department invites you to a coed Happy Goat Yoga class on Saturday, October 13.
The What and Why of Goat Yoga
Less than two years ago, former marketing professional Lainey Morse indulged her life-long love of goats by purchasing a couple of them. At first, spending time with these animals at her rural home was simply therapeutic – what Lainey called Goat Happy Hour. It was so much fun, she began inviting friends over to enjoy the experience.
As it turned out, one of the people who visited Lainey and her growing herd of goats was a yoga instructor. The friend suggested Lainey host a yoga class – with the goats participating – and a new fitness craze was born. This fitness craze has reached nationwide epidemic proportions crossing gender, race, age and physical abilities.
